Moussem Tan-Tan is an event that brings together more than thirty nomadic tribes of the Sahara. This is the great living testimony of the Saharawi oral and artistic cultures. Unesco has classified the Moussem of Tan Tan as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The Moussem of Tan-Tan was an annual gathering of nomadic peoples of the Sahara bringing together more than thirty tribes of southern Morocco and other nomadic peoples of northwest Africa.
Originally, it was a reunion, spontaneous and regular, these populations around a well, around the month of May for a long week.
As part of the agro-pastoral nomadic calendar, this group had the opportunity to meet, buy, sell and trade of food and other products, organize Show review camels or horses, perform marriages or consult herbalists doctors. The Moussem also consisted of various festivities such as musical performances, popular songs, poetry contests and other oral traditions hassanies or games.
